1. 맥락에 따른 구분

영어에서 "괜찮아"라는 표현은 다양한 상황에서 달리 표현된다. 기본적으로는 상대의 감정이나 상태를 묻는 경우와 어떤 행동이나 제안에 대한 동의를 구할 때로 나뉜다.

• Are you OK?: 신체적, 정서적 상태에 대한 안부를 묻는 표현이다.
